ANSWERING THE OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
Q: Where are you located?
A: KOL originated just outside of Jacksonville, FL.
Q: Do you have a holistic center or restaurant?
A: No. I am a traveling, holistic chef. I bring my kitchen to yours.
Q: I have never heard of a service like this before and am confused about what you do?
A: Kitchen of Life offers an education on the benefits of organically grown, plant based foods coupled with hands-on food preparation tailored to your health goals and needs. You can visit our About page for more information, or contact us for a free consultation where we can talk about your needs and answer your questions.
Q: I am not sure if I want to eat a vegan diet. Can we still work together?
A: Yes! We never force our clients to adopt lifestyles they are unhappy or uncomfortable with – the goal is for you to enjoy your food and your new found health and energy! We encourage you to incorporate our recipes into your already existing diet as you transition to more of a plant based lifestyle, often referred to as “plate shifting,” but we never require you to become completely vegan.
Q: I have health issues and want to change the way I eat, but I’m not sure I have the time to devote to a program like this. How can I fit Kitchen of Life into my schedule?
It’s true, making a change to your diet and lifestyle requires making some time in your schedule for us to work together.
The good news is that our program is flexible and we are happy to work with your busy schedule without compromising your goals. We also include plenty of tips and how-to’s targeted for people and families on-the-go.
Q: With all of the marketed products available today why would I need your services?
A: Many marketed products and programs sold today promote dependency. You are told what to do without an understanding as to “why.” Once the program or products cease, confusion and frustration set in when presented with a myriad of new dietary options. Kitchen of Life gives you the tools to make educationally based decisions when grocery shopping, meal planning and eating out.
Q: I don’t live in your area. Can you still work with me?
A: Absolutely! We offer options to take advantage of our program remotely and all Kitchen of Life educators can work with you and provide consultations via phone and/or Skype. Contact us to schedule a free consultation and we would be happy to talk with you about the different ways in which we can help you achieve your goals.
Q: Do you work independently or do you have a team of professionals?
A: Currently, we are in the process of hiring Independent Consultants familiar with our philosophy. If you are a dynamic individual who has a desire to serve others, who is passionate in the field of holistic health, has a personal story or connection, who loves to “uncook” and has a degree/certification in a related field, please contact me at email@example.com We hope to broaden our reach within the contiguous US.
Q: Do I need to be sick to work with you?
A: Absolutely not! You just need to have a strong desire to life a healthier lifestyle and a willingness and openness to change.
Q: I am on a prescription medication that interferes with some natural foods. Will your program still work for me?
A: Yes, but all medications must be disclosed on your health intake form when we begin our work together. You must continue to work closely with your prescribing doctor to ensure proper care.
Q: Tell me more, how does Kitchen of Life work?
A: We offer a custom one-on-one service designed to restore health and balance to the body. We do this through our 12-step program to living optimally. These steps break down into four modules, with each module building on the previous concepts.
Not sure if this is for you?
Not to worry! Each and every client starts with the basics. Module One will have you off and running – you’ll want to tell all your friends how they can eat, cook and shop smarter, too! Not bad for only a few lessons!
As the program progresses into Modules 2 and 3 you’ll delve deeper into a better understanding of what powerful plant based foods offer. You’ll start to connect the dots between the benefits of “prevention foods” and the detriment of “harmful additives”. You’ll also be “in the know” about what all those media buzz terms really mean and be able to process and understand the newest trends without buying into every one.
The last module is reserved for those who have lost their lifestyle and want to get it back, or for those just eager to detoxify and see what living at your best health feels like. This last step mirrors the lifestyle followed at Hippocrates Health Institute.
Q: I have a young, special needs child. Are you capable of working with him/her?
A: Yes. I used to be a former special needs teacher and am excited about working with children.
Q: I have a child with severe allergies and food sensitivities. Are you capable of working with him/her?
A: Yes. All of our Health Educators are equipped to handle working with food allergies and sensitivities. All allergies must be disclosed on our intake forms before we being our work together.
Q: How long does this program last?
A: Our typical program can last anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks, but the needs and wishes of the client will determine the actual length.
Q: How long do you plan stay at my house?
A: Depending on the situation and desired outcome, it can be as little as 2 hours once per week or as many as 4-6 hours each day. The arrangement is mutually agreed upon, however, the objectives and number of hours spent together must be harmonious.
Q: Do you sell products?
A: I currently do not sell any products although I promote those I feel strongly about.
Q: Do you require a contract or commitment?
A: I require a contract which outlines the program guidelines, policies and payment but do not require a commitment. If you are not completely satisfied, you may terminate my services at any time.
Q: You mention Hippocrates Health Institute. What is Hippocrates?
A: Hippocrates Health Institute (HHI) is where I received my Health Educator certification. Words do not do justice in describing such an awe-inspiring and healing place like Hippocrates. I encourage you to visit the Hippocrates Health Institute in person or check out their website at http://hippocratesinst.org/
Q: Would you consider working as a full-time personal chef?
A: My services are short-term and strictly for holistic purposes only.
Q: Why are you called Kitchen of Life?
A: Our philosophy is that living foods have the ability to both heal and nourish, and we have the experience, education and results to prove it!
Our health begins in the kitchen, and what we eat has the power to bring us incredible healing and vitality.
From a renewal of our relationship with our food and our bodies, we have the ability to create new found life and well being for ourselves, hence our name, Kitchen of Life.
Q: What is a personal holistic chef?
A: A personal holistic chef is an individual trained in the philosophy of healing foods and preparation methods that optimize wellness.
At Kitchen of Life we don’t cook for you. Instead, we cook with you, because we understand that although it may seem basic learning to cook new foods and eat differently can be overwhelming!
Working with you in your home is where the real change occurs. We guide you through the process of using ingredients you may be unfamiliar with and offer how-to’s in the kitchen to get you on your way to independent healthy living.
Our personal chefs even help with very simple tasks such as understanding how to prep and organize, using knives and cutting boards, understanding juicing versus blending and much, much more. Once you have a handle on the basics, we guide you through more complicated recipes and cooking methods. The more you familiarize yourself in the kitchen, the easier it will be for you to whip up healthy, fresh delicious food when you’re on your own!
Your personal holistic chef will be there for you to inspire, educate and empower you to help yourself and take control of your health
Q: What is a health educator?
A: A health educator is someone who teaches people about behaviors that promote wellness, and develops and implements strategies to improve the health of individuals and communities.
Kitchen of Life’s health educators share health and wellness concepts through nutrition. Our health educators are all versed in the same intensive curriculum, and science backs our beliefs about the many benefits of plant-based foods.
We leave out dietary fads and marketed products. Instead, we balance a happy marriage between a plant based, whole foods lifestyle, and the more mainstream standard American diet.
All of Kitchen of Life’s health educators have studied and trained at The Hippocrates Health Institute and hold a consistent set of ideals.
Hippocrates Health Institute is a holistic retreat and educational center that has built its reputation based on healing individuals through diet and lifestyle. In order to appeal to wider audience but still keep with the success of the HHI protocol, The Kitchen of life recipe book was specifically designed to appeal to the more Americanized palette.
Our recipes incorporate a healthy concept using decadent and gourmet flavors paired with nutritious ingredients to create delicious and healthy meals.
There are more than 100 recipes in the program meant for all levels offering a variety of flavors, textures and ingredients. The food pairings are designed for both health and taste and leave you in the driver’s seat so you can enjoy every bite!
Q: Do I have to become a vegan or raw foodist to use/benefit from your program?
A: Anyone can benefit from the educational resources and hands-on portion of our program. Improvements in health vary from person to person and can depend on the degree to which you’re willing to make changes and try some new things, however while we believe that living optimally well stems from a raw and living foods foundation, one can see symptoms disappear and overall health improve just integrating even just some of the steps we suggest.
Q: Isn’t a plant based or organic diet more expensive? How much should I expect to spend on groceries?!
A: A shift in grocery spending can cause for worry for many people, however consuming more vegetables and grains and less meat and processed foods can actually lower your grocery costs! Organic foods that can increase your spending include sustainably and/or humanely raised meat, dairy, eggs and seafood.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We do not currently have a brick and mortar location. Instead our health educators are located throughout the US as Traveling Holistic Chefs.
